New Apartment Near Target Field

Hines Interests will break ground Wednesday on the 185-unit Dock Street Apartments near Target Field.

The Houston-based developer has been planning the complex for more than a year. It got municipal approvals for the project in May.

The groundbreaking was held up slightly while Hennepin County and the city of Minneapolis worked out a conflict regarding the future light rail transit corridor that runs along the site. That issue has been resolved.

Hines’ $14 million purchase of the site closed in late July.

The AFL-CIO Building Investment Trust, which helped finance the project, issued a news release about the ceremony, which begins at 11 a.m.

The six-story project, at 333 Washington Ave. N, includes 3,000 square feet of retail space and a two-level parking garage. It is part of a larger area development planned by Hines called North Loop Green that includes future phases of residential, retail and office space.
